Alexandre da Costa Oliveira obtained his BSc. in Medicinal Chemistry (2013) and MSc. in Chemistry with specialization in Advanced and Industrial Chemistry (2016) both at Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Coimbra. During the master’s dissertation, he was a Visiting Young Scientist (Short Term Scientific Mission supported by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, STSM-COST) in Metal Complexes for Biomedical Applications Group from the Center for Molecular Biophysics, CNRS-Orleans in France. Since 2017, he is doing a PhD in Chemistry with a specialization in Biological Chemistry at the University of Coimbra under supervision of Prof. Maria João Moreno and with co-supervision of Prof. Luis Loura and Prof. Carlos Geraldes, with a PhD grant supported by the Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, Portugal. His PhD project is focused on the enhancement of brain availability of imaging probes using biophysical and computational chemistry methodologies. He joined the Prof. Voth group as a visiting student with a Fulbright Scholarship.
